A scanned PDF is just a picture of a page. Your computer sees pixels, not words — so you can't select the text, copy a quote, or find a phrase with Ctrl-F. The fix is OCR (optical character recognition): software reads the image, recognizes the letters, and adds an invisible text layer behind the scan. The page looks identical, but now it's searchable and selectable.

How to do it

Open the OCR tool, drop your scanned PDF, and pick the language of the document (this matters — OCR is far more accurate when it knows which alphabet and dictionary to expect). The tool processes every page and returns a new PDF with a searchable text layer baked in.

Everything runs on our servers and the file is deleted two hours later — no account, no watermark.

Tips for a clean result

Scan at 300 DPI if you can — too low and the letters blur into each other. Keep pages straight; heavy skew hurts recognition. And remember OCR is a best-effort read of imperfect images: handwriting, stylized fonts, and faint photocopies will never be perfect.
