1. Who you are agreeing with
PDFStaple is operated by 4 Save Soft d.o.o. Novi Sad, registered in Serbia (full details at the bottom of this page and on the about page). “We” and “us” mean that company; “you” means whoever is using the site. By using PDFStaple you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it — there is nothing else you need to do.
2. What the service is
PDFStaple is a set of free, browser-based tools for working with PDF and document files. There is no account, no subscription, and no charge. Some tools run entirely inside your browser; the rest send your file to our server, process it, and delete both the upload and the result 2 hours later. Which of the two happened is stated on screen every time, and the detail is in our privacy policy.
Because the service is free, we offer it without any commitment to availability. We may change, limit, suspend, or withdraw any tool at any time, including temporarily disabling one for maintenance. Do not build a process that would cause you harm if PDFStaple were unavailable tomorrow.
3. Your files stay yours
You keep all rights in everything you upload. We claim no ownership of your documents and acquire no licence to them beyond the single, narrow permission you necessarily give us by pressing the button: the right to store your file briefly, run the tool you selected on it, and hand you the result.
We do not read your documents, share them, sell them, index them, publish them, or use them to train machine-learning models of any kind. No employee reviews their contents. After 2 hours the upload and the result are deleted by an automated job whether or not you downloaded anything.
4. What you promise us
By using PDFStaple you confirm that:
- you own the files you upload, or otherwise have the right to process them in the way you are asking us to;
- doing so does not infringe anyone else’s copyright, privacy, confidentiality, or other rights;
- the content is lawful where you are and where we operate, and is not child sexual abuse material, malware, or material that is unlawful to possess or distribute;
- you are legally able to agree to these terms, or have permission from someone who is.
5. Password-protected documents
Unlock PDF removes encryption from a document using the password you supply. It is not a password-cracking tool and does not attempt to guess or break anything: without the correct password the job simply fails. You may only use it on documents you are authorised to open, and you must not use it, or any other tool here, to defeat access controls on someone else’s material.
6. Fair use of a free service
So that the service stays up for everyone, some limits apply. A single task accepts up to 10 files, up to 50 MB per file and 200 MB in total, and each visitor may start roughly 60 tasks an hour. These are operational limits, not entitlements, and may change.
You must not:
- work around the rate limits, whether by rotating addresses, scripting the site, or otherwise treating it as an unmetered API;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, or gain unauthorised access to the service or the systems it runs on;
- use the HTML-to-PDF tool to reach private, internal, or access-controlled addresses, or to direct load at a third party’s site;
- resell access to the service, or present it as your own product.
We may rate-limit or block traffic that breaks these rules. We do that with a one-way hash of the network address, never a stored identity — see the privacy policy.
7. Accuracy, and the checks that remain yours
Document processing is not exact. OCR misreads characters, conversions between formats lose fidelity, compression discards image detail, and a repaired file may not recover everything. Always open the result and confirm it is what you needed before relying on it, sending it, or filing it.
Two points deserve emphasis because the consequences of getting them wrong are serious:
- Redaction. Redact PDF performs true redaction — the text and image content inside the areas you mark is removed from the file, not merely covered with a black rectangle. But it removes what you marked. Anything you failed to mark stays in the document, and sensitive material can also live in places a visual pass will not show you, such as metadata, attachments, or layers. If a document is being redacted for a court, a records request, or a publication, verify the output yourself.
- Anything with a deadline. If you are filing, submitting, or serving a document, leave yourself time to check it. We cannot be responsible for a missed deadline.
8. No warranty
PDFStaple is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any result will meet your requirements.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business, arising out of your use of or inability to use PDFStaple — including a corrupted or inaccurate output file, a document that failed to process, or the service being unavailable when you needed it.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, you keep every mandatory right given to you by the law of your country of residence, and nothing here reduces those rights.
10. Intellectual property
The PDFStaple name, design, interface, and the code we wrote belong to us. The document engines underneath are third-party open source projects — qpdf, pikepdf, Ghostscript, LibreOffice, Tesseract, Chromium, PyMuPDF and pdf-lib among them — used under their own licences, which continue to govern them. Nothing on this site grants you a licence to our branding.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms; if you do not, stop using the site.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Serbia, and the courts of Novi Sad, Serbia have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you use PDFStaple as a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-law provisions of your own country, or of your right to bring proceedings in your local courts where the law gives you that right.
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
