Compress PDF

Make it small enough to email. Three presets trade image sharpness for size — and if your file is already optimal, we return it untouched rather than make it bigger.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends on the file. Scans and image-heavy PDFs shrink the most; text-only PDFs are already compact. If our result would be larger than your original, we return the original untouched.

What's the difference between the compression levels?

Higher compression downsamples images more aggressively. 'Light' keeps images crisp, 'balanced' is the everyday choice, and 'strong' squeezes hardest for email-size files.

Can I compress a PDF to a specific size, like under 5 MB?

Yes. Enter a target size and the tool walks a quality ladder, returning the first result at or under your target.

Will compressing ruin the quality?

Text stays sharp because it isn't rasterized; only images are downsampled. Pick a lighter level if you need maximum image fidelity.
